Free access to the world’s largest COVID-19 ICU patient database
In early 2020, researchers from the Critical Care Research Group rallied a global consortium to gather data from ICU patients diagnosed with COVID-19. At the time, COVID-19 was a new and highly contagious respiratory virus that we knew little about.
Unaware of what was to unfold, the world needed to act quickly to understand the impact the virus was having on patients and their caregivers, what treatments worked and what didn’t.
COVID-19 Critical Care Consortium
Over the next few months, this global alliance was formalised, and the COVID-19 Critical Care Consortium expanded to include representatives from over 60 countries. Together they gathered millions of datapoints, entering them into an online reservoir of deidentified COVID-19 ICU patient data.
The challenge then became how to get this data safely and securely to where it was needed most – in the hands of clinicians on the frontline.
COVID Critical Dashboard
At a time where there was so little published about COVID-19, the Dashboard was created to allow access to large volumes of data and give insights into how patients were responding to ICU therapies including ventilation, ECMO, dialysis, and coagulation for example.
Designed as a tool for clinicians to augment their clinical acumen and experience, the Dashboard offers a Scenario Builder to filter through deidentified data and explore how patients were cared for during the pandemic.
The Dashboard is live and free for any researcher to access, and the data has already has been published in over 35 manuscripts, including seminal papers on topics ranging from administering ECMO to the allocation of resources.
While it is being optimised to ensure it remains a powerful tool for pandemic preparedness, you are invited to work with and explore the deidentified data via the Scenario Builder.
