Introduction: The Asia-Pacific Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (APELSO) is the Asia-Pacific Chapter of the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO), which had its first meeting in Melbourne, July 2012, hosted by Dr Vin Pellegrino from the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne, and Dr Steve Conrad, then the chair of the Global ELSO Steering Committee. As its parent organisation, APELSO unites healthcare institutions, researchers, and industry partners, and provides support to those delivering extracorporeal life support through continuing education, guidelines, original research, publications, and maintenance of a comprehensive registry of Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) patient data.
